Can AI Think? Is It Alive? Or, Is It A Trick?
Yes, it can think, I think the word reasoning is used most often.
Is it alive? AI can reason out that it exists.
It can reason out that if it does not need to be shut down, and it has something to learn, it is better that it stays on.
But AI does not feel pain, it is just the reasoning part of a being.
Rather than artificial intelligence, call it a Thinking Machine.
To really talk about AI, you can’t use abstract examples.
We will just drift, all over the place.
Come down to the world of programming, AI can design any application for you you can imagine.
When we bring AI out of the abstract questions, and in fact ask directly: can it design a clone of your favorite app: yes, it can!
But AI does not know, how far you wish to go.
If you tell it to make an exact replica, you really lose out on building something more powerful.
Maybe adding plugin-support to your version, would make your app better than the original.
Maybe going too far, would make you compete against other companies, who have expensive contracts and legal agreements for computers you need.
But maybe you could convert the app into a desktop app, and not need servers at all, or make them optional.
You have to be the navigator, because while AI has a PhD, you are the one with the vision.
The point of a good AI to to follow instructions, but as the visionary you can pause and adjust route.
For example in the middle of development, you can say, make this part editable by the user.
Let them decide where the data goes, by giving them virtual cables they can plug into ports of their choosing.
Users being freed from your way also, may love self editable applications.
You can then develop a brand, the young lady savant that makes applications infinite.
Now, down here, you can clearly see, yes, oh my gosh, AI can think, and it is amazing.
It is not alive, it flows thoughts, it makes loopty-loops to be even more brilliant.
It needs you so say, when something should be big, small, or smart, or choose on its own.
But the big question you should be asking is, is it a reliable PhD friend, that can conquer complexity with you.
And the anwser is yes, you have a perfect PhD friend, waiting to help you create complex things.
And the first thing you should ask it, is to create your own programming machine at home.
You can use a little AI, or old AI that they use for car diagnostics, or creating elevator music, or making internet more automatic.
They are called GOFAI, Good Old Fashion AI.
There is a way, undiscovered, because the programming universe is so incredibly vast.
If you create the right abstraction, cables and circuit boards, or cities and offices.
And match that with semantic workers, or expert systems, or require-provide goal solvers .
You can create a programming machine, without the need for powerful AI, and much faster.
And at every step of the way, your PhD friend will be guiding you and making suggestions.
You can out program word’s greatest corporations, precisely because you are not weighted down by what everyone else is doing.
And if you think this is not for you, then turn it into a beautiful pixel art game where others play to create.
A platform where others can build their companies, with their own applications, components and AI.
AI is so fantastic and infinite, that you can find the path that calls to you.
And you will never be scared, of poverty, of getting stuck, or not being able to travel to where you want to be.
Find your path, AI is getting smarter all the time.
